We’ve been trying to get Dylan pottey trained for the past month or so.  He wasn’t too interested until last week – when we started bribing him with candy.  He gets a piece of chocolate or gum if he uses the potty.  Ever since then, no accident yet.

116? Oh, that’s what Dylan bowled on Wii bowling.  I was pretty amazed.  Maybe he has really good hand eye coordination? We’ll see what his next score will be.

Sorry I haven’t updated in a very long while – will try to do better in the coming weeks.

I’ve put some new pictures from May-July 2008 (I know they are kind of old). Hopefully, I’ll catch up with the pictures soon.

Sorry for not updating in a long long time.  Both Jocelyn and Dylan keeps up pretty busy.  But a lot has happened since then so we’ll just highlight the important stuff . . . .

Dylan is speaking a lot more now.  He likes to say “No Thank You” to everything now.

-”Dylan, time to take a bath”

-”No thank you”

-”Dylan, pick up your toys”

-”No thank you”

There’s a game I like to play with him on the car ride home.  He’ll say the “opposite” of what I say.

-”I love you Dylan”

-”I love you Daddy”

-”I love Mei Mei”

-”I love mommy”

-”Big gate”

-”small gate”

-”Dylan is big”

-”Mei Mei is small”

Of course, now that Dylan is two and a half years old, he is getting a bit more stubborn.  Well, I guess that’s why it’s the terrible twos. . . . I hope it’ll magically change when he hits three.

Dylan’s learned to ride a two wheel bicycle (with training wheels) ever since he saw our neighbor Maddy ride her bicycle.  Now almost every evening, he’ll have to go to Maddy’s bicycle and tell me that it’s his bicycle and that he wants to ride it.  Thank goodness for such gracious neighbors that they always let him ride it.

Jocelyn is 7 months old now.  At her 6 months checkup, she weighed 17 lb and measured 27 inches tall. (Basically, 90%+ for both weight and height).  She finally learned to be mobile – not yet crawling per say, but definately can move forwards, roll in circles, turn directions.  SHe would do a push up, pull her legs in, and get down and move her hands forward – I guess kind of like an inch worm.  But lately she’s been getting pretty good at moving across the room.  My favorite new Jocelyn trick – “she can sort of hold her own milk bottle now“  Especially at her 3AM feeding, I’ll just stick the bottle in her hands and fall asleep.  Next thing I know, I’ll find an empty bottle laying next to her.  It’s like magic . . .

Well, hopefully, I’ll put more pictures up as soon as I can – until the next update.

This morning, Dylan woke up in a pretty good mood so after he got his diaper change, we went downstairs for his usual cereal and milk breakfast.  When we got down, turns out my mother in law and Jocelyn were already awake.  My mother in law was hanging out with Jocelyn on the couch.  Dylan decided to go entertain them and got on the couch, went on his knees, and started jumping up and down.  When Jocelyn saw this, she started laughing hysterically.  It was such a funny sight.  Since, Dylan was getting laughter from his sister, he decided to do it again and again and again and again. And then, he would say, “Mei Mei (Little Sister) Laughing” and start to jump again.

During our trip to Shanghai, we decided to take some glamour shots of the kids.  Dylan had lots of fun – he loved being in front of the camera.  So much so that even when it was not his turn, he wanted to get on stage to get his pictures taken.  The photographer must have taken over a hundred shots – unfortunately, we were only allowed to keep 12 – so I’ve posted them up on the photos page – enjoy!  (Here’s a preview)

Jocelyn is getting really big.  She’s seems to be outgrowing everything that she has.  Clothes seem a little small.  The car seat seems a bit small.  And only just about 5 months.  Well, she is definately making a lot more noise these days.  Squeels and giggles and lots of spit and drool.  She also likes to be held a lot too.  If she sees you and you don’t pick her up, she’ll start crying for attention.  And now she’s gotten into the habit of just drinking 1-2 ounces of milk at a time.  Maybe she doesn’t like the liquid diet anymore.  I think we’ll have to start the rice cereal pretty soon.

So lately, there are two things that Dylan really really love.

jamba juice

and bicycles.

Dylan has miraculously memorized the icon for jamba juice.  Everytime he sees that picture, he’ll want some.  His favorite flavor : Strawberry Nirvana – (although, to be fair, he hasn’t really tried many other flavors.)  We’ll split some into a child size cup for him.  After a few trips to Jamba Juice, he got smart.  Now he asks for “the big one”

We’ve been taking Dylan to the “toy museum” (aka, Target, Toys R Us, etc. – we tell him he can play with it but we can’t take it home) and having him try out some tricycles.  Ever since the weather has gotten better, our neighbor’s kids are riding their tricycle up and down the block.  So, we’ve been having him try them out to make sure he learns how to peddle before getting him one.  Well, on Saturday, he borrowed his friend Patrick’s tricycle and finally managed to figure it out.  So ever since then, he’s been requesting his bicycle/tricycle.  I guess we’re going to have to buy something from the toy museum soon.
